About the calculator
How accurate are these earnings estimates?
Our estimates are based on average 2026 RPM data from creator reports, industry studies, and platform disclosures. Real earnings vary based on your engagement rate, ad type, seasonality, and audience behaviour. We show a low, mid, and high range β treat the mid figure as your most likely outcome under normal conditions.
Do I need to sign up or create an account?
No. All 7 platform calculators are completely free with no signup, no email, and no account required. Just enter your numbers and get your estimate instantly.
How often is the RPM data updated?
We review and update our RPM figures regularly based on creator reports and industry data. The current data reflects 2026 average rates. RPM naturally fluctuates β Q4 (OctoberβDecember) typically pays 30β50% more due to holiday advertiser spending, while Q1 is usually the lowest-paying quarter.
Why do my actual earnings differ from the estimate?
Several factors cause variation: ad blockers (viewers using ad blockers generate no revenue), skip rates (skipped ads pay less), video type (some formats get more mid-roll ads), channel history (newer channels sometimes get lower-paying ads), and seasonal demand. Our estimate is a strong benchmark β not a guaranteed number.
YouTube earnings
How much does YouTube pay per 1,000 views?
It completely depends on your niche and audience location. A finance creator with a US audience typically earns $14β$22 RPM. A gaming creator with a mixed global audience might earn $2β$5 RPM. Entertainment channels average $3β$6 RPM. There is no single "YouTube pay rate" β your RPM is unique to your channel.
How much do YouTube Shorts pay compared to long-form?
YouTube Shorts pay significantly less than long-form β typically around 10β20% of long-form RPM. This is because Shorts ads are served between videos in the feed, not mid-roll inside your video. A finance creator earning $18 RPM on long-form might earn $2β$3 RPM on Shorts. However, Shorts grow your subscriber base faster, which helps long-form revenue long-term.
When does YouTube pay you?
YouTube pays monthly, typically between the 21st and 26th of each month, for the previous month's earnings. You need to reach a $100 payment threshold before YouTube issues a payment. If you earn less than $100 in a month, it rolls over to the next month.
How many subscribers do I need to start earning on YouTube?
To join the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) and earn from ads, you need 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours in the past 12 months, or 1,000 subscribers and 10 million Shorts views in 90 days. Once approved, AdSense earnings start immediately on all your videos.
TikTok earnings
How does TikTok pay creators?
TikTok pays through several programs: the TikTok Creator Fund (older program, lower rates), the TikTok Creativity Program (replacement program, higher rates, requires 10K followers and videos over 1 minute), and TikTok Pulse (ad revenue share on top-performing videos). Our calculator estimates combined earnings across these programs based on your views and niche.
Why does TikTok pay less than YouTube?
TikTok's ad revenue model is still maturing compared to YouTube's 15+ year head start. TikTok RPM typically ranges from $0.25β$0.80 per 1,000 views for Tier 1 audiences, versus YouTube's $4β$18. However, TikTok content goes viral far more easily, so higher view volumes can compensate. Many creators use TikTok for growth and YouTube for revenue.
Instagram earnings
How does Instagram Reels pay creators?
Instagram pays through the Reels Play Bonus program (invite-only in some regions) and in-stream ads on Reels. Instagram Reels RPM is typically around 30% of equivalent YouTube RPM for the same niche and audience. Instagram earnings are supplemented significantly by brand deals and sponsored posts β often more lucrative than the platform's direct payments.
How many followers do I need to make money on Instagram?
For platform payments (Reels bonuses), Instagram typically requires 10,000+ followers and meeting activity thresholds. For brand deals, micro-influencers with 5,000β50,000 followers in a specific niche (fitness, food, finance) can earn $100β$500 per post. Macro-influencers (100K+) typically charge $1,000β$10,000+ per sponsored post.
Increasing your earnings
What is the fastest way to increase my RPM?
The single fastest lever is changing your niche. Moving from entertainment ($4 RPM) to finance ($18 RPM) on the same view count multiplies your income by 4.5Γ. The second fastest is targeting a US/UK audience β creating English-language content optimised for US search terms dramatically increases your Tier 1 viewer percentage.
Should I focus on one platform or all of them?
Start with one platform and master it. Once you're consistently publishing, repurpose content across platforms. A YouTube long-form video can become a Shorts clip, a TikTok, an Instagram Reel, and a Pinterest idea pin β multiplying your earnings from the same effort. Don't spread thin too early.
What is the best niche for maximum earnings in 2026?
Finance and investing consistently pays the highest RPM ($14β$22 on YouTube Tier 1). Business and marketing comes second ($12β$16). Tech and software third ($10β$14). However, these niches are competitive. A less competitive sub-niche β like "personal finance for nurses" or "investing for new immigrants" β can capture high RPM with less competition.
